…in his poem Lenin, seems to echo Rosa Luxemburg‘s final written words in “Order Reigns in Berlin”:

Ich war,
Ich bin,
Ich werde sein!

    начинаю
    про Ленина рассказ.
    Но не потому,
    что горя
    нету более,
    время
    потому,
    что резкая тоска
    стала ясною
    осознанною болью.
    Время,
    снова
    ленинские лозунги развихрь.
    Нам ли
    растекаться
    слезной лужею,-

    и теперь
    живее всех живых.

    Ich war,

    Ich werde sein!”
    Actually, Rosa quotes a 1850s poem by Ferdinand Freiligrath, entitled “Die Revolution”, in which Freiligrath speculates about the return of revolutionary upheaval after the 1848/49 defeat.
